Best Treatment on Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

Many people in the world are suffering from DVT or Deep Vein Thrombosis but are hardly aware of this disease. This disease develops blood clots in the deep vein. If untreated, these blood clots can transform into a solid condition in the future.

What are the symptoms of DVT?

Whether a person is suffering from Deep Vein Thrombosis or not can be checked with the following symptoms.

  • People who are having DVT usually suffer from swelling in the ankle, foot, or leg. Usually, these swellings are one-sided.
  • You can suffer from cramping pain in the leg. You will face pain in the calf muscle.
  • The pain can be mild to severe at your ankle and feet.
  • The skin of the affected part becomes warmer than other areas of the body.
  • The affected skin becomes reddish or pale.

People often can also suffer from upper extremity deep vein thrombosis in the arm. In upper extremity DVT, individuals will suffer from neck pain, shoulder pain, arm and hand pain, pale skin color, etc.

Treatments and diagnosis

Before starting the treatment of DVT, doctors need to diagnose the problem first. To diagnose the disease, doctors will carry on the diagnosis processes such as D-dimer blood test, duplex ultrasound, venography, and MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging scan.

Once the diagnosis process is done, experts follow three prime goals to treat DVT. These are :

  • Preventing the clot so that it does not become large
  • Preventing the clots from transferring to the lungs
  • Reducing chances of more DVT.

To achieve those above goals, doctors use blood thinners to break the existing blood clots. These drugs also prevent blood from evolving more clots. Again, if patients are suffering from severe types of DVT, doctors will suggest clots blusters. These are typically known as thrombolytics. Doctors also suggest filters that prevent blood clots and don’t let clots reach to lungs.
